Chrome delete is exactly what it sounds like: we wrap the bright factory trim — window surrounds, grille, badges, door handles, mirror caps, roof rails — in black or custom vinyl for a cleaner, more modern look. It's one of the most transformative small jobs we do; on a lot of vehicles, blacking out the trim changes the character of the car more than owners expect. Because it's vinyl rather than paint, the finish looks factory, the original chrome stays perfect underneath, and the whole thing reverses cleanly whenever you want — which matters on a lease. Trim Assessment
We walk the car together and catalog every chrome element — window trim, grille, badges, handles, mirrors, roof rails, exhaust surrounds — and flag the pieces that need removal versus the ones we can wrap in place. You decide exactly how far the blackout goes; some clients keep the grille chrome, others want every bright piece gone.
Color Selection
Gloss black reads like factory piano trim, satin sits in between, and matte gives the stealthiest look. We'll show you samples against your paint in daylight, because the right finish depends on the car — and if black isn't your goal, we can match body color or run carbon-fiber texture instead.
Surface Prep
Chrome is one of the harder surfaces for vinyl to grip, so preparation is everything. Each piece is degreased and prepped, and where trim comes off the car easily, we remove it and wrap it on the bench for fully wrapped edges you'll never see lift.
Precise Application
Trim wrapping is detail work — narrow strips, tight radii, and edges that sit millimeters from glass and paint. Our installers wrap each element individually, heat-forming the vinyl around curves and tucking edges so the finish looks anodized rather than applied.
Detail Work
Every edge gets post-heated to lock in the vinyl's memory, removed pieces are reinstalled, and we inspect the car in raking light where a proud edge or trapped speck would show. The goal is trim that looks like it left the factory that way.

What can be blacked out?
Almost any exterior brightwork: window surrounds, grilles, badges and lettering, door handles, mirror caps, roof rails, fog light bezels, and lower trim. The main exceptions are heavily textured plastic, which vinyl won't bond to reliably, and a few pieces where sensors live behind the trim — we'll flag those during the walkaround rather than wrap something that shouldn't be wrapped.
Can I choose colors besides black?
Absolutely. Black in gloss, satin, or matte is the classic, but we regularly do body-color matches, carbon-fiber textures, and accent colors. Satin black is the most requested finish in our shop because it reads as a factory blackout package rather than an aftermarket add-on.
Is chrome delete permanent?
No — that's the beauty of doing it in vinyl. The film comes off cleanly and the original chrome is exactly as it was, which makes chrome delete completely lease-safe. And if a piece ever gets damaged down the road, we re-wrap that one element instead of redoing the whole car.
Why not just paint the trim?
Painting chrome means sanding and priming it — permanent, and a problem at lease return or resale. Vinyl gets you the same visual result, protects the chrome instead of destroying it, and usually costs less. The only case where we'd point you toward paint is heavily textured trim that film can't grip.
